Election 2012!

Today, in my village, there was a parade of nearly a hundred people - men, women and children carrying placards for presidential candidate Abdel Fotouh, who left the Muslem Brotherhood, so he could actually stand for president.

Upper Egypt is definitely an area where Islamist policies are popular and he is probably the lead candidate here, but nationwide he is second in the polls.

We shall find out on the 26th!

But a new president may give Egypt the stability it needs, and for Luxor that means that the tourists may well return.
