Dear Heart

Scarborough Fair

Dear Heart,
Wandering around the arcades today, I stepped into one of the most beautiful vintage shops possible. It was like falling down a glorious rabbit hole into miscellaneous buttons, lace gloves and 50s cookbooks. I spent far too long trying on hats and fancying myself in the dressing mirror.
As much as I try to rationalise my thinking by telling myself that a woman had far fewer opportunities then, that medicine and technology weren't as sophisticated and that clothes are clothes; whether you think fashion was better then or not - I still can't manage to convince myself that I wouldn't have fit in better in the first half of the twentieth century, rather than the latter.
Love, Lydia x
