The Boathouse

This is the boathouse in the Rosehaugh Estate near Avoch. It is now self catering accommodation but was originally a ' rectangular building  the rubble built lower floor housing boats and the upper floor containing recreation room surrounded by a rustic balcony on three sides. It's rustic character was enhanced by the decorative half timbered gable, rosemary tiled roof and timber clad upper floor walls.' It original stood on the west  or duck lake in about 1900 as part of James Fletchers improvements to the Estate.

It was a beautiful day , quite cold with a nip to the wind but the sun made a huge difference. We enjoyed a walk down to the boathouse through the Estate and crunched our way through frozen grass watching Red Kites , buzzards and a Sparrowhawk watch us from above.
We only met a few other walkers and a runner.
Had a redpoll in the garden , just a brief sighting but it was there.
My ears were burning this afternoon for some reason ;)
