Safer Motherhood and Child Survival #Philippines

Our '1000 Days' programme in the Philippines cares for women and their babies from conception right through to a child's second birthday.

The period from conception to a child's second birthday is a critical time, and inadequate nutrition can cause irreparable damage to physical and mental development.

This photo was taken in BayaniJuan where our team in the Philippines celebrated a group of mothers who have just completed their 1,000 days!

Our team told us; “After all the children reached their two year mark, we held our 1000 days graduation, a simple activity to witness our triumph over inadequate maternal care, over hunger states for both mother and child.

Along with the community health workers that we initially called 1000 days IMPACT volunteers that we trained and motivated with the hard work of the think tanks and the able field work of the team! We thank the numerous donors for the medicines, the funds for the feeding of the under nourished, all working together toward a common goal, so no one dies needlessly in pregnancy and childbirth, so the mother and child do not go hungry in the land of plenty.

I salute all of you, mothers, volunteers, and team, we made great strides."
