Halong Bay

We have been out of internet reception for 24 hours due to being on a boat last night so this is a back-blip.

After leaving the chaotic madness of Hanoi we were driven to Halong Bay.  This UNESCO World Heritage site is absolutely stunning.  We toured among some of the 2000 islands in a boat where we also spent the night.   Halong Bay featured among other things in the James Bond Film "Tomorrow Never Dies" and a recent "Top Gear" Vietnam Special which we watched while on the boat.

Unfortunately the weather was not perfect and was very hazy and the light was flat.   It was still stunning but tricky to photograph.  This shows one of the many small fishing craft against the backdrop of one of the islands.  My blip for Wednesday 7th shows the more traditional view of the islands.

We can't grumble about the weather as tonight we hear that all boat trips have been cancelled because of a storm
