I took some time out from flyer writing at the Park to take a hike up to the Hoad Monument. It was wild, the wind battering my raincoat about my face, shoving me up the hillside and pushing me down again. I fooled myself into believing that there would be some sort of wind shadow behind the monument. But no, it was more like being in a washing machine on spin cycle. The rain, although not heavy, pelted me from this side and then that until I reached the monument base. There it was drier at least. The views were not spectacular but it was exhilarating to feel the force of the wind and watch the rain squalling across the Bay. Well worth the effort.
