Jugendstil Detail
Our last full day in Wien and we got the sunshine/blue sky combination that turned the amazing city into a most extraordinary city.
We tried to make the most of it - we were on the Donau Insel*. And while the river did look blue from the bridge, up close it was just huge river colour.
We also visited the Prater to see the Wiener Riesenrad that featured in The Third Man.
And then to the Hundertwasserhaus - which is bonkers but in a good way.
And then back to the Naschmarkt which, although it was shut for Epiphany/Drei König is very near to some amazing Art Deco buildings. Today's Blip is one of them.
*The Danube is called the Donau here and what is called The Blue Danube is actually called "An der schönen blauen Donau" ("By the beautiful, blue Donau). You may say "ah but Peter - it's "die Donau" and I'll just have to point out that it's a dative phrase and therefore it's "der" and that's why all the adjectives end with an "n".
