Elkhorn Slough Pano

A visit to a wonderfully biodiverse region of the Monterey Bay - Elkhorn Slough Preserve and Scientific Outpost.

I think I found a bug in the auto merge feature of PhotoShop. There is one other photo that should have been included (Duke Power Plant) on the left, but no matter what I did, Photoshop would not merge that image.

I'm okay with how this turned out. There's a Great-horned Owl box in the barn you see in the photo. This is a very rich flora/fauna area with one of the world's largest heron/cormorant rookeries, Sea Otter "pupping" area, wetlands, ocean, steam power plant, mountain lions, owls, coyotes, and many more in a very small footprint of an area. Much like it must have been over 100 years ago. Thanks to all the efforts to preserve this area and share it for educational purposes to the nonprofits, NOAA, Dept of Fish & Game, and the State of California.

If you look at the image enlarged you can barely make out a silhouette of an Anna's Hummingbird on the top of the bush in the lower left.

Enjoy!
