Bridge over the Arrow

Out walking this afternoon with CP and our 'boys', well I say walking we drove into Alcester and after leaving the car in Waitrose's car park set out around the town for a change of scenery. We headed south towards a tranquil village called "Oversley Green" and crossed over this bridge on the way.

The bridge, said to be built in the early seventeenth century has five arches and has had been altered several times  over years, in C18 it was widened on its north side and the brickwork shown in this picture was added.

It has been scheduled as an Ancient Monument.

After walking through the village we returned to Alcester did some shopping and arrived home just as the sun began its inevitable dip over the horizon
