Sydney Harbour Ferry

Australia 2013 Backblip #5

Up early to take some pictures of the sun coming up over the Sydney skyline. Then bought a daily ticket for one of the ferries. Took the ferry out from Darling Harbour to Circular Quay (which involved a trip under the harbour bridge) to find a massive cruise ship had arrived during the night.

The ferry then took us to Taronga Zoo (we didn't stop here) and then it went to Watson's Bay. We got off and took a walk up the hill to a viewpoint over the ocean. Back onboard an hour later we went through to Manly, bought some sandwiches and ate them at the beach.
There seemed to be lots of schoolkids there having PE lessons that involved learning to surf!

Back on the ferry we went to Quarantine Station, where for many years passengers arriving on boats where someone was ill were kept segregated from the general population.

Took the last ferry back to Circular Quay, and went for a wander around the botanic gardens to find Mrs Macquaries's chair.

Walked half way back to Darling Harbour before feeling the heat and getting a taxi the rest of the way.
