Australia 2013 Backblip #7

A very misty day in the Blue Mountains this morning! We packed up, checked out, left our overnight bag with the hotel and then walked along the lookouts towards Scenicworld. Where yesterday we had views over the Jamison valley, today we got views of white cloud. There was the impression of a large drop over the edge, but we couldn't see any distance - only cloud.

We walked along the opposite direction from the hotel in the rain and took a few pictures, mostly with the iphone. We got as far as Scenicworld - where there's a cable car across the valley and another that descends to the valley floor. The place was heaving with tourist coaches. We opted not to pay $37 each to go on the cable car in the mist, mainly because we didn't have much time, but also the views would have been of cloud! We did watch the cars disappear into the mist a few times.

We had lunch at Scenic World and the returned to the hotel, mainly walking along the road rather than the paths, though we did detour down to Witches Leap to take some photos of a waterfall.

Back at the hotel we recovered our bag and sat in the lounge to cool down waiting for our hotel pickup.

We were picked up to do the other half of the tour that we missed yesterday (this time no Americans, but some more folk from Lancashire), and so drove back towards Sydney with a break half way through to visit the Featherdale Wildlife Park where there were various Australian animals both in cages and walking around. We had about an hour there and a highlight was seeing a joey come out of its mother's pouch - we think he was only a couple of weeks old.

We then returned to our hotel in Sydney, and were surprised to be given another Darling Harbour view room - we didn't pay extra this time! Dinner was at a different place along Cockle Bay and we then returned to our room to pack ready for our flight to the red centre tomorrow morning.
