H Bomb

A halogen light bulb exploded like a bomb going off while we were trying to fix the cooker hood! Fortunately we had our backs to it when it  blew. It was very violent and fragments scorched our new kitchen flooring. We consider ourselves lucky to have not been facing it when it happened.

Interestingly we rarely use these lights for lighting people but more for backgrounds and ambience. Just as well!  That said we think the bulb was an old one however bit of a check of the fittings is called for.
