Into the Woods

Today, KryptoMart, Vicky and I went to see the film of Stephen Sondheim's musical 'Into the Woods'. Having seen the theatre version quite a few times, we knew what to expect, and it did not disappoint.

Into the Woods is a modern twist on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales all centring around an original story about a baker and his wife who are desperate to have a baby and have been cursed by a witch. The various characters journey into a dark forest and the story follows the interactions between the baker and his wife and the many fairy tale characters they interact with like Jack, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood etc.

The cast is brilliant and includes: Meryl Street (the witch), James Corden and Emily Blunt (the baker and his wife), Anna Kendrik (Cinderella), Chris Pine (Prince Charming), Johnny Depp (the wolf) etc.

Go and see it, Stephen Sondheim and Disney at their best.
