Bull

Pablo was an experienced Toro Bravo - the veteran of a hundred fights. He was a master of the feinted charge which would cause the Matador to step to one side - at which point Pablo would turn and catch the Torero with one of his sharpened horns. Pablo never dispatched his opponent at the first opportunity - the crowd wouldn't stand for that - but after two or three charges, he would put the unfortunate adversary out of his misery.

Sometimes Pablo would be told that it was all a put up job with no danger, but he would deny this. There was genuine risk of sometimes serious harm to the bull - those swords that the men carried could hurt anyone too slow to avoid one of the creature's ferocious lunges. And Pablo would show off the small scar that he had once received from a particularly feisty Matador in Pampa. Ah! What a fight that had been... Pablo had been awarded the man's ears for his skill and bravery. He kept them in a special box made out of the Matador's skin.
