Église Notre-Dame la Grande, Poitiers

We made a day-trip to Poitiers, with the Église Notre-Dame la Grande as one of the main attractions. It is the oldest romanesque church in Europe, with a beautiful facade. Inside the columns are a bit of a surprise, painted with geometrical "Romano-byzantine" motifs. The paintings go back to restoration work around 1850 and criticised since then.
