Bath Sunday

Slept incredibly well in the utter tranquility of rural Somerset. Our son and daughter-in-law's new home is in a quiet hamlet and backs on to fields, where the night sky is inky black and the nighttime quietness is like an acoustic blanket.

After a leisurely breakfast, closely observed by their dog and two cats, we decided to head to Bath for a look around and some lunch. We chose a charming little café-restaurant which looks arty and interesting, not realising that it was exclusively vegetarian. We're not! By the time we had noticed the absence of meat on the menu we were already settled, so decided to stick with it, and the food was really delicious.

I love the Georgian grandeur of Bath, and the warm-coloured stone that characterises many of the buildings. We only had a few hours there this time, but I intend going back for longer another time.
