Everyone is Charlie

Hard to find the right not to strike about Paris this week.
Freedom of speech is, in general, a good thing.
Avoiding giving offence is, in general, a good thing.
"In general" because it's best not to live by absolutes. And the overwhelming majority of people in the world live this way - we say awkward and unpopular things when we believe they need to be said, but most of the time we use common sense and tact and chose our words and actions according to the people around us at the time.
Despite the events in Paris (brought forth by people who believe in absolutes), I believe that humans are getting better at this, better at living together, all the time.
So I am an optimist.
And I am Charlie.
