Plenty of light, but I'm still in the dark

Hotel room decor gets a bit weird sometimes.

To join this 'light' are a switch and dial that appear to do nothing at all, and a tiny LED on the desk that has two unmarked buttons above and below that also appear to do nothing.

I.do hope I'm not turning the hotel's sign on and off.
