Gilmerton Village- Ravenscroft corner

Inspired by the challenge one street which is about telling the story of a place that is visited often, I decided focus on Gilmerton Village.   It is one of the many old villages that is now encompassed by the city of Edinburgh.  There are many old buildings and lanes in this area.  For my first one I chose to take a  photo of the corner of Ravenscroft Place and Ravenscroft Street.

This building is fairly modern compared to many of the buildings on Ravenscroft Street, it was built in 1867.  It is now a block of 4 flats, but the bottom was a shop at one time and may have been a pub.  I have tried to find out more about the early history of this building without much success.
