On our drive down SW Moody Ave we saw an enormous red-tailed hawk on the sidewalk looking stunned, there was a couple standing nearby.  We parked and went to see if the hawk needed help, the couple explained that the hawk had previously been in the street and had flown into the wire fencing that surrounds a nearby industrial area.  The couple had stayed nearby as they were worried the hawk would walk into the road.  The hawk had a huge rat in its talons.  I started to look up the number for the local Audubon...  meanwhile two people jogging approached and their movement seemed to wake the hawk up who took off and perched on the roof of a low building, rat still in claws.  Eventually it seemed to recover and it took off over a field behind the fencing and it was safely out of reach of cars and humans.  On our drive home some time later there was no sign of it.
