Capturing the Everyday

Rata in blossom

Was one of those days with too many jobs to do and nowhere near enough time to do them, so few photo opportunities! I did see and hear a noisy group of White Cockatoos squarking - sounding more like a group of monkeys than birds, but never got chance to leave my desk. Apparently they live up Reikorangi  valley and wander down the river now and again. I’ve seen them once before, so I’m sure I’ll get my chance again.

The pohutakawa at the bottom of the garden in the reserve, is no longer in blossom, but nearby are three rata trees which are ablaze and look quite similar. This one is particularly full. Spectacular.

Apparently they grow very tall - about 25meters!!
