Goatsbeard

I'm pretty certain that this is Purple Salsify, also known as Common Salsify, Oyster Plant, Vegetable Oyster, Jerusalem Star or Goatsbeard.

It is grown as a vegetable in some parts of the world, including France. It is also used as a herbal remedy as is it meant to be beneficial for the gall bladder and the liver.

This was growing on the cliff face where it would be regarded as a weed! Perfect then to just pop the flower in a vase.
