Desert Squirrel

Opportunistic

This bright yellow flower (yellow evening primrose) popped up on a vacant section that I often walk past as I head down the hill from here to the Avon-Heathcote Estuary.

The post-earthquake rebuild seems to be speeding up as I see increasing numbers of houses on Mt Pleasant that are undergoing major repairs or rebuilds.  Numbers of trades people and vehicles negotiating and parking on the hill have been slowly increasing as builders get back to work after the Christmas/New Year holiday break.  There are now as many people heading in and out of the Sumner seaside suburb at work times as there are visitors heading for the beaches and cafes at weekends and in  the evenings.  Our part of town seems to be one large, building site.  There is a lot more activity here than there was a year or two ago.

Not sure when this particular section is due to be reoccupied.  There are so many empty sites now that may or may not be sporting a new house in the near future.
