From the extinct . . .

. . . to those in danger of being so.

We’re in London for a few days, travelling down by train this morning. We had a great bus ride on the Number 10 (our favourite bus!) to the Natural History Museum and saw the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition. Excellent work and it was so quiet, which was nice. An emphasis this year on the diversity of the natural world and the way we as humans interact with it. Some thought-provoking images and some very beautiful ones too. Most fascinating I thought was a retrospective on the 50 years of this competition, showing how it has gradually over the years raised the profile of wildlife photography from documentary recording into an art form. Some quite amazing pictures from young people as well – most impressive.
