Opera in Prague

The first time I visited Prague in late 2001 I attended opera performances in each of the city's three opera houses. This photo is the State Opera House, which is opposite the hotel where I stayed on my first visit and next to the (new) National Museum building. The Estates Theatre, closer to Old Town Square, is the opera house that stood in for a Viennese opera house in the film Amadeus. It is also where Mozart conducted the world premiere of Don Giovanni. The third theatre is the National Theatre - down by the river. Thankfully tickets in 'the Gods' are reasonably priced and I have binoculars :)
