Kidwelly Castle

We are fortunate to have this relatively well preserved Norman castle close by. Present remains include work from 1200 - 1478 and was created as a defence against the Welsh. It was unsuccessfully besieged by forces of Owain Glyndwr in 1404 aided by soldiers from France.The gatehouse was rebuilt on the orders of King Henry V.
It was used as a location in the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
