Bomber Clasp

In Feb. 2013 it was announced that air crews that flew operations in WW2 should belatedly be awarded recognition of their service in the form of a clasp and ribbon. Only veterans or next of kin could receive it.

Mum applied for it months ago as next of kin to her brother , a mid upper gunner who was killed when his Lancaster crashed on his 13th op.

For months she looked forward to receiving it on his behalf but it didn't arrive. It came today - six weeks after she died. My brother will be proud to have it but I was so sad that she didn't see it.

On a lighter note, as I was walking by the village brook this morning I saw a kingfisher flying down it. It's the first time I've seen one in the village in 30 years of living here!
