Birmingham Orcs

On spur of the moment (though have been talking about it for ages), because it looked sunny, M and I decided to walk into Birmingham via the canals - about 10 miles.

Around Spaghetti Junction, the weather and the scenery turned grim - massive concrete columns, traffic thundering overhead, sleet and snow, and ominous shotgun-like bangs. Further on, factory with bricked up windows emitting weird rumblings - were the orcs making war machines?? After all, is Birmingham not a no-go area??

You'll be glad to know we did make it safely into the city, the sun came out again, and as we walked into Yorks Bakery, who did we see but our daughter and two friends...
