If I had a hammer .......

"For 'tis a truth well known to most,
That whatsoever thing is lost -
We seek it, ere it come to light,
In every corner but the right."

So said William Cowper (1731-1800) and so say we, too.  Early summer we planted more saplings in our woodland, using a trusty old heavyweight hammer to knock in the wooden stakes to hold the trees. Well, wouldn't you know it, when we needed this hammer a few days ago because the wind had knocked over a Siberian Crab Apple tree, it was nowhere to be found.  We have searched high and low, obviously not in the right place, and suspect it is lying out in the long grass ready to be run over by the ride-on mower come spring.  So today we bought a new one  and chose the one in the picture with some bright orange on the handle (German made and 1000 g in weight) which might make it harder to lose, or ............?
