Surprise!

Luke was quite keen to open his HSC results which surprised me after the constant battles of last year.

He passed every subject!!

Forgive the utter astonishment, but to understand you'd probably need a bit of background. School has been a long, hard slog ... 12 years of encouragement and frustration, lots of tears (mine) and never knowing how hard to push or even whether to push at all.

Late last year we had a conversation that went something like this:

Me: I'd really like you to pass every subject. I know if you just put a little effort in, you could do it.

Him: That's not going to happen.

Me: Well what do you think you can aim for, especially in Maths?

Him: Maybe 30%

Me: (sigh) Well if that's what you want to aim for that will be fine, but you're going to have to work a little. (Note the most recent test result was 22%)

So he's quite impressed with himself and is laughing because I'm so surprised.

Proud of you Luke!! But I'm so glad school's over for us :)
