Day 3 of our trip to Copenhagen.

A quick trip into town to buy some goodies and then off to see the changing of the guard at the palace. LH is a bit of a Republican, but the pageantry of the whole thing was good fun, and a little bit more informal than anticipated. The palace complex is very central and architecturally impressive. The guards march through the city with a police escort, before parading in the circular forecourt of the palace. These guards were left facing each other for a few minutes, but it was nice to see the banter and laughing between them as they tried to keep a straight face.

Off to see The Little Mermaid. You have to do it, but it is rivalled only by Brussels Mannequin Pis as the most over-rated statue in Europe.

Climbed up the tower in Christiansborg Palace, home of the Danish Parliament, with its fantastic city views. The front was made famous by Borgen.

Just time for one last apfel punsch, a picture with the real Santa (honest) and a wander round Christiania to see the impressive architecture without architects.

Home. :-(
