When Sheffield was at its best

The massive machine on the right side is the Bessemer Converter, one of only three converters left in the world. The revolutionary steel making process invented by Henry Bessemer made it economical and efficient.

By the way, I recently watched a film called "The Full Monty" of which the set is Sheffield. It is the story of six unemployed men decide to be strippers to earn money. Some of them used to work in steel industry. At the beginning of the film, you can see what Sheffield looked like when it was most prosperous.
