Glide On

Most training means a slog down to the end of the canal and then retracing steps, which always seems harder somehow.

Today something different, with a northerly wind and high tide at sunset we lugged the boats over from the canal to estuary and continued on to Cockwood.

As we progressed the waves slowly built, and once we were past Powderham we were regularly able to glide along for 10+ seconds without any real need to paddle.

Arriving at Cockwood, one last glassy wave took me almost all the way under the railway bridge and into the quiet harbour behind.

Then it was off to the pub for dinner.  Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
