Droning

I should have taken my rebuffal yesterday as a sign, and not gone back. But today was the last day of Tony Conrad: Invented Acoustical Tools, and I was determined not to be defeated by a jumped up lollipop man.

Conrad pioneered "drone-based minimal music which causes pure sensory disruption to the listener". I was lucky enough to stumble across an improvised closing concert today. Here, a musician is earnestly playing the strings of a wooden bench, while a trumpet player looks on disdainfully. And I can confirm that the sound was most definitely drone-based. Beyond that, I've no idea what it was all about - it was far too avant-garde* for me.

*avant-garde = the French word for bullshit.
