Gone In a Flash!

After living in Alaska for many years and racing sled dogs semi-professionally, Roger has moved back to Minnesota.  He is the brother of Diane and Kevin, who invited us to spend the day with them.  We were able to watch and participate in the process of harnessing the dogs to the line and then were treated to a magical ride through the woods.   The weather was perfect with just a bit of snow falling.  While riding, all you hear is the snow under the runners and Roger very quietly directing the dogs.  No hollering of mush, mush! This photo is of Don in the sled.  The dogs are spectacular.  Very friendly and excited for attention, but all business once they are attached to the sled.

We enjoyed an excellent grilled steak dinner and drinks at Roger's home in celebration of our 10th wedding anniversary which was yesterday.  Spent the night in Grand Marais, MN, where we will be for a few days.
