Lyttelton Marina

Our Wednesday morning kayaking group had a memorable paddle over to Ripapa Island from Cass Bay this morning. As you can see from the photo from the marina, the weather was promising. However, about the time we circumnavigated Ripapa Island and sat on the beach for a cuppa, we were faced with black ominous clouds, coming towards us from the South and blotting our view of our route back. We had to paddle towards the Lyttelton Inner Harbour, with our sights set on the huge cranes that work the container wharves. At times we could barely see them. The rain was bucketing down, so much so that it was bouncing back up off the waves! Five of us arrived back at Cass Bay absolutely soaked but with grins from ear to ear. We wouldn't have missed it for anything. We were lucky though, as it wasn't cold.
