Loch an Eilein

Another day spent in Rothiemurchus. Rewalked the same route as yesterday to see how how it had changed in 24 hours.  Still lots of snow around but much of it had melted and refrozen making the paths on the estate much more treacherous.  In the higher areas the top surface of the snow had formed a really hard crust - while it holds it's fine to walk on....

The morning temperature at the top of Cairngorm (where I wasn't) was -7C, and the wind-chill temperature was being reported as -27C.

There was still a layer ice across much of Loch an Eilein, but a few patches for the ducks to sit around.
