Common as they are, these are the first Herring Gulls that I've seen this year.

Fresh herring are hard to come by in the middle of Bradford, the sea being fifty miles away to the west and sixty five miles to the east. So these two were busy foot-pattering to bring the earthy delights of worms to the surface.

A couple of minutes earlier I saw my first Goldcrest of the year, probing the bark of the campus conifers. Too flighty for photos though.
