Before Work

I always say that my walks with Bertie are what keeps me sane (as sane as I will ever be!) This morning I decided to go along the canal before climbing up the hill to the common.

This bridge is called 'Stanton's Bridge', it provides a way for the original workers who lived on the hill to the far right of this photo to get across the canal to their jobs at the mills.

The canal is partly drained here at the moment as the lock which is a few hundred yards behind me is being restored by the canal volunteers.
