Pictorial blethers

Suddenly, in mid-field ...

Sounds like cricket, but this rather boring photograph has an interest for anyone who walks along the old road between Puck's Glen and Benmore Gardens. The field in the foreground is usually just that - a field, that in summer has sheep in it. Today, suddenly, there was a roaring burn that emerged fully-fledged (can a burn be so described?) and then vanished underground again. It has clearly had its path scraped out by some large machine; the water that supplies it has equally clearly come down the hill behind my viewpoint and gone underground.

Perhaps there used to be a complete watercourse here, running all the way to the River Echaig. Perhaps it was covered over to protect livestock. Perhaps that's all nonsense. But on a dreary day of rain and thaw, it made for a point of interest.
