The Color Purple

Our knitting group is making a lap quilt for E, who is facing a long medical ordeal. Each of us will knit several nine inch squares in different textures and patterns, and then, as if by magic, the finished piece will stitch itself together and become a blanket full of love and hope for our friend. It's the magic part that gives me pause, but in the meantime we are enjoying our project. A square like this is just enough space to try something a little more complicated than we would normally attempt  We have about half the pieces finished. And, yes, purple is her favorite color.
