Rosie the Riveter Memorial

We went to a storytelling festival in Richmond, but no photos allowed. So instead, here's a pice of the Rosie the Riveter Memorial, located by the Richmond waterfront. This site commemorates the 18 million women who worked in factories, many in this area, during World War II. Designed to resemble the hull of a ship, the memorial incorporates photos, facts, and remininiscnes.

Next week, a new visitor's center for the Rosie the Riveter Natioinal Historic Park will open near here, commemorating the role of civilians in World War II.
