'A Day Down the Peninsula'

Absolutely beautiful day today so we decided to head off down the Mornington Peninsula to take the kids to the beach.

The traffic was pretty awful going down and took us a lot longer than we thought. We arrived at Herronswood Diggers Club at lunchtime and had a lovely lunch sitting outside in the gardens, although the cafe that was there last time we visited was no longer there apart from a few ruins. Apparently a bushfire last year burnt the place to the ground.

After lunch we drove down to Rye back beach which is a surf beach and much less crowded than the beaches along the bay on the other side of the Peninsula, but the waves were way too big for Bella to go into the water. Dylan and I had fun letting the big waves chase us it to shore. We both got totally drenched. Took this shot there just before leaving.

The kids wanted to go back to the Rye beach to have a play around in the calm water, finding shells and all sorts of things. The beach was jam packed full of people for miles as it was such a nice day. Not really very relaxing for us though, we much prefer deserted beaches.

Home, showered, ready to eat dinner and watch the movie 'Locke'.
