It had to be

This is blip number 1000. During the past 999 blips I have hunted out, found and blipped every stone circle in Cumbria, except one and the best known of them all . . . Castlerigg.

I have avoided coming here before now for several reasons: 1) It has been photographed so many, many times and by much better photographers than me. 2) It is blipped on a regular basis by local blippers and visiting blippers alike. 3) It is usually swarming with people. 4) It just doesn’t have the same feel to it that some of the more remote, secretive ones do. But it is impressive all the same, especially when there is no one else around.

And it had to be the one for today . . . except that heavy cloud and rain was forecast! So, to avoid the rain, we got there early this morning, just as it was getting light. So, Castlerigg Stone Circle in the early morning, with low cloud and the sun just pushing through.

1000 blips without any gaps and without any back blips. Crazy really, but I have no intention of giving up just yet.
