Coats at the Boijmans

We spent a full afternoon today at the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam. It ranks with the Rijksmuseum and the Mauritshuis among the top three Dutch museums, and we had an excellent visit.

On arrival we hung our coats from a sort of coat merry-go-round hanging from the ceiling--we let our hangers (#145) down, then pulled them back up, locked them up there, and then took key #145 (simpler than it may sound :) Our two coats are the dark ones hanging on the left.  There were a great many wire cage lockers as well (some are on the far left), but we preferred the unconventional facility.

There was a superb exhibition of selections from the museum's top-notch collection of Dutch and Flemish old master drawings, but we otherwise toured the permanent collection.  It's excellent, especially through the 17th century, again above all from the Netherlands. A very good day, especially given the weather--cloudy with light rain late.
