Puffin

This morning went to South Queensferry to go for an RSPB trip on the Firth of Forth. We didn't land on any of the islands but it lasted 3 and a half hours. Lucky with weather, wind had dropped and later, on the trip, it became quite warm.

There was a commentator pointing out the birds and 2 or 3 people spotting on each side of the boat. Sometimes the boat went in close to the islands so we could see the birds clearly.

This is today's list - herring gull, Kittiwake, guillemot, puffin, cormorant, lesser black-backed gull, fulmar, shag, eider, great black- backed gull, gannet, arctic tern and razorbills.

It was part of the bird fair which had much better weather today at Hopetoun house.

Quite pleased with this photo of the puffin even though not completely in focus, it is not too bad considering the boat was going up and down quite a lot when it was taken.
