Here we go again!

Opera comique

We heard a great concert this afternoon of works by Massenet. It is the centenary of his death this year (1842-1912) and he was, apparently, one of the most performed composers of the salle Favart. This is one of the chandeliers in the lobby of the Opera comique, taken during intermission.

The concert was a little long for Ch but she was pretty patient. Some strange things were happening on stage... two different violinists had to leave mid-performance at different times. I think because of technical problems with their instruments (broken strings?) I've never seen that happen before. Could it be because temperatures were chilly outside and very warm inside the theatre?

A pretty spectacular thunderstorm has just ended. Yet again, the weather was much better in Toronto than here this week-end. Who would have thought? Enjoy the rest of your long week-end, Toronto folks!
