Braemar

A visit to Braemar today, partly to see some snow while remaining on main roads. In Braemar we found some snow, probably not much more than we had in Aberdeen earlier in the week, but here it has not melted.

On a visit to Braemar we usually visit the Fife Arms Hotel for a sandwich and a drink in front of a roaring fire. Not today as it has now closed for much needed refurbishment and is not due to reopen until 2017. With such a long closure I would expect a major change when to does reopen. Instead of the Fife Arms we had a coffee the The Old Bakery. Somewhat less grand surroundings than the Fife Arms.

The picture shows St Andrew's Roman Catholic Church. It was built in 1839 and the attitude presbytery was added in 1864.
