Another day, another kitchen

Today a group of us went to The Clink Restaurant at HM Prison, High Down, near Banstead. It was an education, not only for those of us who have never been into a prison before in our lives but to witness the work of the wonderful Clink Charity. In their words, their ethos is..
The sole aim of The Clink Charity is to reduce reoffending rates of ex-offenders by training and placing graduates into employment upon their release, with the support of Her Majesty’s Prison Service. We offer a genuine opportunity for prisoners to change their lives, giving them true-to-life work experience and nationally recognised NVQ City & Guilds food preparation, food service and cleaning qualifications.
The meal we had was top class and we all learned something from the experience. For me it was never, ever to take for granted the freedom I have to walk freely, without have doors locked behind me.
