MonoMonday: Close Up

This is a close-up of a rocky bank where the road has been cut through. It is covered with carved initials, some of which are now very weathered.

I recall this thoroughly enjoyable form of entertainment from my own childhood in the Wirral, where sandstone was abundant. Especially Elephant rock (vertical sides, far taller than me, exciting ledges, and big enough to scramble over). Thurstaston Common I think. It was a long time ago. Magical in my memory. I expect it's in the middle of a housing estate now.
